Ivanhoe East Primary School
The school is located in the residential area of Ivanhoe East in the North Eastern suburbs, close to good facilities for shopping and recreation.
The school is attractively appointed with two undercover shade areas and various natural shade areas providing a sun smart environment. The school grounds include a large grassed oval, senior and junior play areas, basketball courts and an asphalt area for various games. Surrounding play areas have been landscaped to provide passive play areas.
The main school building was built in 1930. The Art room was added in 1968 and the Library in 1977. Currently the number of buildings enables twenty one classrooms to operate. In 2003/04 a major building upgrade has replaced seven portables with permanent classrooms.
Buildings include a special purpose activity centre, the SPACE Centre, incorporating a full size basketball court, music room, meeting room, tuck shop and Out of School Hours Care Program. The Out of School Hours Program, provides for students from the school and the neighbouring Catholic school.

A large number of parents are involved at many levels of the school, from working as classroom helpers, to serving on School Council sub committees. A genuine partnership between all involved in the life of the school ensures invaluable community links and support are fully utilised.
The school has a very supportive and informed school council who place the best interests of the school and its students at the forefront of all decision making.
Ivanhoe East Primary School has a significant commitment to forging links with the wider community. A wide range of external resources are maintained through our transition programs with adjacent pre-schools, secondary colleges, tertiary institutions and the local community.
