Ivanhoe East Primary School is a highly regarded school, known for its high standards and for a community that greatly values learning and education.Its strong academic focus is complemented by rich and diverse programs promoting creativity, the arts, physical activity, languages and healthy living.

Extensive intervention and enrichment programs cater for student diversity with a strong emphasis placed on challenging and extending students.

Ivanhoe East Primary School has provided public education to generations of families since 1930 and proudly has a number of original families still associated with the school.

The school's reputation as a high performing school is well deserved. The school leadership seeks continuous improvement with firm commitment to community values of Integrity, Respect, Learning, Caring, Cooperation and from the students, Fun.

The school is attractively appointed with two undercover shade areas and various natural shade areas providing a sun smart environment. The school grounds include a large grassed oval, senior and junior play areas, basketball courts and an asphalt area for various games. Surrounding play areas have been landscaped to provide passive play areas.

The main school building was built in 1930. The Art room was added in 1968 and the Library in 1977.  In 2003/04 a major building upgrade replaced seven portables with permanent classrooms.

Buildings include a special purpose activity centre, the SPACE Centre, incorporating a full size basketball court, music room, meeting room, tuck shop and Out of School Hours Care Program. The Out of School Hours Program, provides for students from the school and the neighbouring Catholic school.
